May
Peach completed her Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1975 from
Converse College in Early Childhood and Elementary Education.
She then earned a Master's Degree in Elementary Education
from The University of South Carolina in 1978. In 1990,
she received her Education Specialist Degree in Special
Education and in 1995, completed the requirements for
her Administrative Certificate in Elementary Principal
and Supervision.
After graduating from Converse College, she moved to
Columbia, South Carolina and began a long career as
a teacher in Richland School District Two. Mrs. Peach
began her teaching career at Blythewood Elementary which
is now Bethel-Hanberry Elementary. She later joined
the District's ALERT program for gifted and talented
students and remained committed to working with this
type of student for the next 18 years. Mrs. Peach enjoyed
presenting at numerous conferences on the educational,
social, and emotional needs of the gifted and talented
student.
From 2001-2006, May worked as the Lead Teacher of The
Learning Collaborative (TLC) at Dent Middle School.
The Learning Collaborative is the first middle school
magnet program in Richland School District Two. This
magnet program was developed to serve the needs of the
district's high achieving, highly motivated students
in 6th-8th grade.
