A distinct feature of our consulting process is that
we approach the student as an individual, but not in
isolation. We take into account the familial and social
factors that influence educational aspirations and achievements,
as well as the students unique personality, intellectual
capabilities, academic potential, and emotional resources.
A typical consultation begins with a joint interview
of the student, the parents, and any other family members
involved in making educational decisions. Then we interview
each party separately in order to gain insights that
may not have emerged in the presence of others. We ask
families to bring as much information as possible to
these meetings: transcripts, teacher comments, character
reference forms, prior test results and any other forms
of evaluation that contribute to a thorough understanding
of the student.
