Answers to Help Get You Started
Finding the right path forward often begins with understanding your options. Below are answers to some of the questions clients ask us most often. If you have additional questions, we'd welcome the opportunity to speak with you.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
It all begins with a conversation. During an initial consultation, we'll take the time to learn about your situation, answer your questions, and better understand your child's needs and your family's goals. From there, we'll discuss whether a more comprehensive consultation would be beneficial and outline the next steps.
-
Absolutely. Many families contact us before they know whether a therapeutic program, boarding school, college support program, assessment, or another option is appropriate. Part of our role is helping families understand the available options, evaluate the needs of the student, and determine the most appropriate path forward.
-
We work with adolescents, young adults, and adults facing a wide range of educational, emotional, behavioral, and life transition challenges. Every recommendation is tailored to the individual's unique needs and circumstances.
-
Not at all. While our offices are located in North Carolina, we regularly work with families across the United States. Our network of educational and therapeutic programs extends nationwide, allowing us to recommend the best fit for each individual student and family.
-
A website can tell you about a program, but it can't tell you what it's really like to work with them. Our consultants have spent years developing relationships with schools and programs across the country. We visit campuses, stay current on leadership changes, understand each program's strengths and culture, and know which students tend to thrive in each setting. That firsthand knowledge allows us to make recommendations that go well beyond what can be found online.
-
We believe relationships matter. Our work doesn't end after making a recommendation. We remain involved throughout the process, helping families navigate decisions, coordinate next steps, and provide ongoing support as circumstances evolve. Many of the families we work with come to us through referrals from former clients, which we consider one of the greatest compliments we can receive.
-
Staying informed is an essential part of what we do. Our consultants regularly visit schools and treatment programs, attend professional conferences, participate in continuing education, and maintain ongoing relationships with educators, clinicians, and admissions professionals across the country. This allows us to make recommendations based on current information and firsthand experience.
-
Yes. We believe ongoing support is one of the most valuable parts of our work. We stay involved as your child transitions into a new environment and remain available to answer questions, provide guidance, and help navigate any challenges that may arise along the way.
-
Every family and every situation is different. If immediate intervention is needed, placement can sometimes happen within 24 hours. In most cases, the process takes two to three weeks, allowing time to thoughtfully evaluate options and identify the best fit for your child.
-
Success looks different for every family. For us, success means helping students find an environment where they can grow, gain confidence, and move toward a healthier future. It also means helping parents feel informed, supported, and confident in the decisions they're making.
-
We work directly for the families we serve. We do not accept referral fees, commissions, or compensation from schools, treatment programs, or other providers. Our recommendations are based solely on what we believe is the best fit for your child and family. Our fees vary depending on the level of consultation and support needed, and we'll discuss those fees with you before any work begins so you know exactly what to expect.
