Tim Riewald

Parent Coach

One of the most rewarding aspects of Tim's job is having the privilege to hear the stories of parents, and to guide them through their own crucible of growth. Tim’s passion is in personally connecting with the families with whom he works.

Tim's Bio

Tim earned his undergraduate degree in Psychology from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.

After graduating, he started his journey in this field as a Wilderness Therapy Field Instructor, where he lived and worked with adolescents in crisis for three and a half years. Tim quickly fell in love with the work, and the characteristic humor, resilience and challenge of working with adolescents. He then pursued a Graduate Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Appalachian State University. After Graduating, he then worked as a Wilderness Therapist for 5 years. This time had an enormous impact on Tim as a person, and clinically informs the way that he works with his clients and their families. He developed a collaborative and family-system oriented approach designed to get beneath individual symptoms and to address the underlying wounds fueling those behaviors. Over time, he found that one of the most rewarding aspects of this job was having the privilege to hear the stories of parents, and to guide them through their own crucible of growth. Tim’s passion is in personally connecting with the families with whom he works.

Tim’s approach is rooted in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing, and Internal Family Systems. He incorporates elements of Gestalt Therapy and Mindfulness Practices into his work when appropriate. He has designed his approach to be in line with current research supporting best therapeutic practices, while also honoring the inherent human complexity that is so rich in the therapeutic relationship. He has undergone trainings in Attachment-Based Family Therapy and Parent Coaching. With years of working with parents in the role of a Primary Therapist in Wilderness, Tim is uniquely suited to be a Parent Coach for families in the midst of difficult times.

For more than a decade, Tim has been pouring himself into his work with families. He is proud to continue to deepen this experience as a Parent Coach at the Price Group. He lives in Asheville, NC with his partner and their dog, Ollie. In his spare time, Tim is passionate about many things, including pushing his limits mountain biking, creating music, reading clinical texts, and cooking latin food.
